Defenisi Limnologi

Limnologi adalah pengetahuan perairan baik tawar maupun payau yang mempelajari sifat – sifat fisika maupun kimia, flora dan fauna yang hidup didalamnya, dan pengaruh mereka masinh – masing terhadap suatu perairan. Pada dasarnya limnologi adalah ilmu buatan yang mempergunakan pokok – pokok dasar ilmu lain, yaitu ilmu fisika, kimia, geologi hidrologi, planktonologi, dan lain – lain. Bagi ilmu perikanan, limnologi dipandang sebagai ilmu yang terutama mempelajari produktifitas hayati (biogenic capacity) dari suatu perairan tawar atau payau.
